Tom Talks | After the Marine game

Monday, 25 April 2016

Blyth boss Tom Wade rued missed chances in his side's 2-1 defeat to Marine on Saturday.

"The game should have been finished after 15 minutes," he said. "We had some great chances. It was a strange game really. We wanted to win and I tried to keep the players focused and not thinking ahead to the playoff week but we're all human and I think we were a little distracted. Towards the end of the match when we needed to push on, we didn't have it in us.

"No disrespect at all to Marine but we have bigger fish to fry this coming week."

Wade commented on Marine's two goals.

"The first one Fabian Otte should have caught. He admits it himself. It was a mistake but these things happen. The second goal was an absolute 'worldy'!

Wade will make no changes to the side's preparation ahead on Tuesday's playoff semi-final with Workington.

"We'll go about things the way we always do. It will be a tough game especially with Workington coming in to the game with some momentum behind them. But we want to put a performance on and if we don't it won't be for the want of trying. We need to get the fans behind us and we'll certainly give it our best."
