Tom talks - after the Seaton Delaval game
Wednesday, 23 July 2014
The Spartans had a useful work out at Seaton Delaval last night with a side featuring several trialists.
After a quiet opening 20 minutes Blyth began to get the upper hand with Perez looking threatening on the left. There was no score at the interval.
Second half goals from Ryan Cummings (47), Sammy Perez (52), Paul Robinson (penalty, 63), Jordan Laidler (75), and Paul Robinson (80) ultimately sealed a convincing win for the visitors.
Manager Tom Wade commented: "Up to last night we've only looked at the trialists over 10 or 20 minutes per game so it was a useful exercise to give them a good run out see them over a full match.
"It was a good test for us. In the first half the lads had to get used to how the others play and, to be honest, we lacked a bit of energy. But after the break we pressed higher up the pitch and did a lot better.
"We will be fielding a more experienced side on Saturday against St. Mirren when we will only be missing two players - Matty Wade and Dan Hawkins.
"We have very large pool of players at the moment and we will need to take some tough decisions, sooner rather than later, to bring it down. However we will be doing our best to help the lads released to find new clubs and get regular football."
