Tom talks - after the Stamford game

After the Spartans' final game of the season on Saturday at Stamford manager Tom Wade was left feeling proud of his side but disappointed that they hadn't finished higher up in the league table.
"We tried to play good football at the weekend and so did Stamford but the pitch didn't help," he said. "We switched off at set plays but scored some good goals and fought back well from three one down.
"Overall we kept the season going towards the end. It was only in the last couple of weeks that it petered out. However finishing eight points off the payoffs we have shown great character, fitness and strength throughout the season. All the other young sides finished near the bottom. It's been a great season considering the circumstances."
Wade praised the supporters.
"They have been absolutely brilliant and were fantastic at Stamford - turning up in numbers and making their voices heard. To say thank you to them the lads wanted to shake all their hands, which is what we did at the final whistle."
Goalkeeper Conor Grant missed the end of the game and was taken to Grantham Hospital with a dislocated shoulder. Grant had to stay in hospital that night after the shoulder had been put back in.
"We all feel for Conor," said Wade. "He was making a brave save when he collided with the goal post and he has had an excellent season. Everyone at the club wishes him a full and speedy recovery."
