Tom Talks - After the Stamford game
Monday, 22 September 2014
After seeing his side held to a draw at Stamford Spartans manager Tom Wade described the game as "a missed opportunity but with a lot of positives".
Jarrett Rivers first competitive goal for the club got Spartans back on level terms after Ryan Robbins had given the home side the lead on the quarter of an hour mark. Despite creating a number of chances but couldn't find a winner and that left Wade a frustrated figure on the journey home.
"It's frustrating but we have played well and tried to play the right way. We dominated at times during the game and it feels like a missed opportunity but with a lot of positives. We just needed to take one chance and the game was ours, I think we would have deserved it"
When asked to expand on the positives he had mentioned Wade chose partnerships in defence and attack as reasons to be cheerful.
"Our front three of Rivers, Maguire and Dale were excellent today. Their energy and link up play was top notch and they were at the heart of everything we created. At the back Jordan Watson and Nathan Buddle were impressive again. Jordan has come in and just got on with things with no fuss and Buddle is back to his form from last season"
Wade revealed that rather than training on Tuesday night his side would face Seaton Delaval at Croft Park(kick off 7.30pm), a match he would use to give a few players a run out.
"We are playing Seaton Delaval on Tuesday and the gates will be open. It gives us the chance to give some of the lads who haven't had game time some match practice and we can try a few things out too"
