Tom’s thoughts on the Benfield game
Monday, 5 August 2013
Following his side's 4-2 victory over Newcastle Benfield on Saturday manager Tom Wade highlighted the contribution made by forward Daniel Maguire who performed with purpose and panache.
"Daniel was playing in a new role for him, wide on the right. The thing is he is so positive-one of the most positive people I have ever come across! He's happy to play anywhere and so enthusiastic," said Wade. "He is a joy to have around."
Maguire was bright from the start, twisting and turning to get crosses in to the penalty box. His volleyed goal reflected the form he was in.
Wade was pleased overall.
"In the first 15 minutes we struggled a bit probably because we'd had a hard training session on Thursday but after that we were pretty good. We had one or two niggles out there but I thought some of our youngsters were outstanding."
One final friendly fixture remains before the league games commence.
"We play Darlington 1883 here at Croft Park on Friday evening and it will be a hard game. They have largely been together for over a year and will prove to be stern opposition," commented the Blyth boss. "We will be putting out our strongest side bearing in mind the game away at Marine on the 17th August."
