Transfer work ongoing for Myers and Spartans

"A good start with new players coming in but we still have work to do" That was the message Spartans assistant manager Colin Myers sent out to the Green Army as he assessed the club's transfer activity so far. Myers also revealed that there could be one new face - a right back - added to the squad by the weekend.
"We have added real quality in Ben Sayer, Dan Hawkins, Jarret Rivers and Chris Moore and we needed that. We can't stop there though and work is very much ongoing when it comes to bringing new players in. We know where we need to strengthen and one of those positions should be sorted soon, we know we need a right back and hope to solve that issue by the weekend"
With Spartans players just under two weeks away from returning for pre-season Myers confirmed that a couple of trialists - one a centre back - will be at the session.
"We do have a couple of trialists coming in and one is a centre back. They want to take a chance on us and see how they get on but they will only be signed if they are an improvement to the squad. There's no harm in looking at them"
Myers gave an honest assessment of Spartans squad as they head towards pre-season. Last season's play off challenge faltered under the pressure of a hectic fixture schedule, something Myers feels will be avoided this season with an improved squad.
"There will be more competition with the new additions and the vast majority of last season's squad coming back. All round we will be better and I can't see us getting caught out as we did last year, it gives us a great chance of improving"
