Under-19s | How YOU can represent Blyth Spartans AFC

Friday, 12 February 2021

Blyth Spartans AFC and Tyne Metropolitan College are on the lookout for students to join its partnership programme, beginning in September 2021.

Formed in 2019, our partnership will see students represent Spartans in the National Youth Alliance for the 2021-22 season, while undertaking a vocational course at Tyne Met College.

The programme allows students to study a BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Sport alongside the opportunity to train and learn within a professional learning environment.

This is open to learners aged 16 and over who have a strong passion for football but also a desire to progress to a career within the sports industry.

Students on the programme also have the option to complete a Level 1 Football Coaching Award, First Aid and Basic Referee's Award, some of many benefits.

Here is a summary of some of the benefits to the course:

  • Develop your sporting passion alongside academic success
  • Up to 10 hours training and competitive matches each week
  • Train like a professional with personalised programmes delivered by expert coaches
  • Individually tailored strength and conditioning programmes

Former Norwich City and Hartlepool United defender Michael Nelson is in charge of both the senior team and under-19s, opening up invaluable opportunities for students to train and play for the Blyth Spartans first team.

TyneMet learners Morgan Dart and Jamie Clark have made their senior debuts for Blyth in National League North, the sixth-tier of English football, while Eithne Taylor has been involved in the matchday squad on numerous occasions.

You can hear from Morgan, Jamie and Eithne, about their experiences and why they'd recommended the course by watching the video above.

And YOU can follow in their footsteps by registering your interest today.
