Spartans full back Shaun Utterson added a man of the match award to his recent Port of Blyth Spartans Player of the Month award today at Grantham Town but was eager to put a team performance ahead of any personal accolades. A late Damon Mullen goal ensured that Spartans took a point that was well earned in a hard fought game and Utterson believes it was down to every Spartans player playing their part. The right back said "It was great, everyone all over the park played their part and worked hard and that was the main thing for us today. If you do that away from home you are going to get results and although we maybe should have good the win we having managed to grind out a point."

It would be Mullen who would score the goal that ensured his side took a point away from a game where they were on top for long periods but fell behind to two goals that were against the run of play. It was Mullen's first goal in a Spartans shirt and Utterson was full of praise for the winger who actually played in three different positions during the draw. He said "To be fair to Damon he's done really well. The ball dropped on his left foot and his first touch made it easy for him. It was still a great finish and he even then looked surprised that it went in but I'm really happy for him, as we all are."
