Utterson right back at home
Tuesday, 24 July 2012
Speaking after the 3-1 win at Sunderland RCA, Spartans full back Shaun Utterson spoke of his happiness at returning to his natural right back position. Utterson was highly impressive in the 1-1 draw with Gateshead on Saturday and carried on that form in tonight's win on Wearside. "I played out of position in midfield last season just trying to help out but right back has always been my position and I'm happy to be back there".
Utterson also spoke highly of management duo Tommy Cassidy and Paddy Atkinson and praised their influence on the Spartans set up. The twenty two year old said "Tommy and Paddy coming in have different ways of doing things and its great to start playing with the lads again and getting used to their system."
Utterson spoke highly of his team mates and their performance not only in the win over Sunderland RCA but also in the draw with local rivals Gateshead and said "We stuck together as a team on Saturday and got a good result against a full time team and tonight was another decent performance and we got the win we wanted". The full back will again be in the Spartans squad this Saturday as Blue Square South side travel to Croft Park for the next pre-season friendly.
