Vipond credits Paddy and Tom with comeback
Saturday, 20 October 2012
Spartans midfielder Shaun Vipond feels that the new ideas of managerial duo Paddy Atkinson and Tom Wade were the main reason behind the late comeback against Rushall Olympic. An eighty eighth minute penalty from Craig Farrell ensured that honours were even with Olympic as both sides cancelled each other out. A first half penalty from Mitchell Tolley looked to have given the Pics all three points but Atkinson's side kept going till the very end and Vipond was quick to give credit to him and Wade. He said "Paddy and Tom have been first class since they have come in and are trying to do everything properly. They are giving the lads a lot of confidence and trying to get the lads passing the ball better and getting it down and playing the game properly".
Following the cancellation of Tuesday's scheduled away fixture at AFC Fylde Vipond and his team mates will have a week to prepare for another home game against Frickley Athletic and the former Workington and Carlisle United man feels that Spartans will feel the benefit. "We have a week off now and we can go into next weekend with a good solid week of training behind us, with hopefully some of the injured lads coming back as well. We deserved the point today and I think the pressure paid off in the end and Craig has tucked that penalty away very well."
