Wade pays tribute to departing Dixon

Spartans manager Tom Wade has confirmed that Joel Dixon will be leaving the club with immediate effect due to personal reasons. The Yorkshire born player has been commuting to Blyth from Leeds for training and matches but due to a personal reason is unable to commit to the travel and Wade paid tribute to his impact at the club.

"As a club we totally support Joel's position and completely understand the circumstances. We appreciate everything he has done in his time at Blyth Spartans and we are always here for him, he knows that and he knows that he is always welcome at Croft Park"

Dixon departs having joined Spartans in September, making his debut at right back in the 4-1 FA Cup Second Qualifying Round win at Skelmersdale United. His versatility has been a useful tool for Wade with Dixon used in four different positions during his time with the club, including a spell in centre midfield when he scored his only goal for the club in the win over Grantham Town just before Christmas.

Dixon confirmed his departure via his Twitter account by tweeting "Want to say this first hand so no rumours or anything incorrect gets said but after a long hard decision I will be leaving @blyth_spartans. Had some great memories and they will stay for a long time. Decided to leave for personal reasons regarding family as I live in Leeds"

Good luck for the future Joel and thanks for everything you have done at the club from everyone at Blyth Spartans
