We did it as a team - Mason
Wednesday, 6 March 2013
After taking the plaudits for his brace in Spartans 3-1 win at Kendal Town winger Lee Mason insisted it was a team effort that got the three points rather than any individual efforts. The former Hartlepool United man has really found his goalscoring touch in recent weeks and adding two more to his season tally at the Cosyseal Stadium but felt that the credit has to go to every player in a Spartans shirt. He said "We were told to improve everything second half and to be fair we have done that. We stuck together as a team and we knew we needed a win after Saturday. We were tighter at the back and I don't think anyone can deny we were the better team on the night and deserved the win overall."
After scoring only one goal in the first half of the season Mason now has four in his last four games and is delighted to be on the scoresheet again. He was delighted with his first goal inparticular as he managed to score with his "swinger" of a left foot just as he had in the Doodson Sports Cup defeat at home to North Ferriby United and the winger hopes it won't be the last of his goalscoring feats this season. He said "It's good to get on the scoresheet again and obviously that old swinger of a left foot is getting to be a bit more than that really. As long as I can keep hitting the back of the net I'm not really bothered how they come and hopefully I'll get a few more before the end of the season. I just have to keep getting in the right positions and taking a gamble."
