We were second best- Kendrick

Sunday, 19 August 2012

After completing his first competitive ninety minutes as a permanant member of the Spartans squad, defender Joe Kendrick believes that the side as a whole we second best in the 2-1 opening day defeat at Witton Albion yesterday. The former Mansfield Town and Darlington left back said "We were miles off, just not good enough and we can't complain and they deserved to win. Individually we were poor and as a team as well. Being positive it's got the game out of the way and we can move on"

A last minute penalty ensured that Spartans would start the season with a defeat but looking forward to the visit of Stocksbridge Park Steels Kendrick insists that an all round improvement is needed. He said "We just need to play better and work harder, we were not sharp enough and were miles off the pace but we want to win at home on Tuesday and get the three points".
