Phil Castiaux caught up with new signing Wilson Kneeshaw.
Wilson first spoke of how his signing for Blyth came about.
"I was released by Darlington and Tom [Wade] rang me up. He told me that he likes his side to play football the proper way and I saw this at first hand when I played for Darlo at Croft Park earlier in the season. As soon as I came down for the first training session I could see the quality of the squad and the whole set-up. I can see how we are top of the league.
"I only knew one Blyth player before I came. Nathan Buddle was at Gateshead when I was there at the beginning of the season but I talked to my good friend Jarrett Rivers about the club."
Darlington-based Wilson will be 22 in May and has had extensive experience for such a young footballer.
"I was at Middlesbrough with Jarrett. I went on to spend a year and a half playing in Romania and three months in Sweden. The quality of the football in Romania was very high but the lifestyle was tough. It was difficult to live somewhere so different to England, somewhere where there is so much poverty, and see some of the things I saw. Sweden was the reverse - the football wasn't as good but the lifestyle was really good. It was all good experience for a 19/20/21 year old!"
Wilson's aim is to follow Jarrett Rivers' path in to the professional game.
"I'm not working at the moment although I've had a few job offers. I'm still chasing the dream to become a pro player."
Wilson's focus is certainly on football.
"I'm not into much outside of the game. I play on my Play Station and that's about it really. I'm just a chilled out guy - quite relaxed!"
Welcome to Blyth Spartans, Wilson.
