Win is all that matters for Hodgson

Spartans midfielder Sam Hodgson insisted that it was a case of the win being more important than the performance of his side as they secured a place in the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Cup with a 1-0 over Garforth Town. Hodgson, who was awarded the Sponsors man of the match award said "We were not at our best today but in the FA Cup and any other cup competition you have to get the win and we did that so we are happy. We worked hard and tried to keep going but with the temperatures the way they were there were times when you could hardly breathe out there"

Spartans reputation as a club with plenty of Cup pedigree means that the competition will always be special to those involved at Croft Park and former Whitby Town man Hodgson claims it is no different for the players. He said "Everybody knows what this competition means to this club and we made the Third Round three years ago so we obviously want to repeat that. Although it's just one round at a time and just see what we can do when the draw is made".
