Win was all that mattered for midfielder Hooks

For Blyth Spartans midfielder Neal Hooks getting three points was all that mattered against Nantwich Town. An honest Hooks admitted that his side hadn't "been at their best" against the Dabbers but after overturning a half time deficit they got a crucial win as they look to keep up the pressure on the sides currently occupying the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League play off spots.

"Obviously you want to play well in every game you play in and get a win to go with it but this is football and it's not always possible to do so. We know we haven't been at our best today but we got a win and at this point in this season, chasing what we are, we are just happy to get the three points"

With just four games left in the season Hooks is delighted to still be in with a chance of the play offs and he insisted that there was still a strong belief in the Spartans dressing room that their challenge was very much alive.

"We still believe we can do it, all we can do is keep winning and hope that we get a chance to get in there. We are on a good run at the moment and our confidence is high"

Hooks took the time to pay tribute to the Green Army after they played their part in the win over the Dabbers. Frustration seemed high in the Croft Park stands as their side struggled to get going against the Cheshire outfit but Hooks was happy to see them stick with his side.

"We know it was a struggle for the supporters on Saturday and we were just as frustrated as they were. We can take criticism from them but they stuck with us and they were brilliant. The noise when Robbie Dale scored the winner was incredible and we need them to be right there with us for the last four games, we really appreciate what they do and hopefully we can reward them with a strong finish"
