Win was Vi-tal for Shaun

Spartans midfielder Shaun Vipond hailed his side's efforts in their 5-0 win over Stocksbridge Park Steels tonight and was delighted to see them bounce back from the opening day defeat at the hands of newly promoted Witton Albion. The former Carlisle United man said "It was an excellent result and just what we needed after the weekend. It's great to bounce back and to do it winning 5-0 was all you could want."
Whilst nobody in attendance on Saturday could fault the Spartans players efforts, there was a lot to improve on in their performance but Vipond says the side have proven what they can do when the team work together. "The work-rate was much better, on Saturday we looked like a bunch of individuals but tonight we closed down in packs and made it hard for them" he said.
Understandably the atmosphere post-match in the Spartans changing room was upbeat, but Vipond warned that whilst the win was welcomed, a crucial Bank Holiday weekend lies ahead for his side. Vipond commented "Yes the place is buzzing, we can't wait to get going on Saturday and hopefully take that momentum into Monday at Whitby Town. We have to take one game at a time and get ourselves up this league table"
